Going. Going. Gone.
Bostonians have long been able to view and admire John Hancock’s original crimson jacket and blue waistcoat in the Old State House. But by the end of 2017, those treasured garments will be returned to dark storage to preserve them for future generations.
Never fear though, we have engaged Master Tailor and Historical Costumer, Henry Cooke, to make period-accurate replicas of Hancock’s clothing for all visitors to see in our galleries.
As the year comes to an end, we will have to say "goodbye" to the old, and "hello" to the new. Visit the Old State House before the new year begins to see and compare the real garments and the reproduction coat together side-by-side in our galleries.
The installation is FREE with admission to the Old State House.
